Description

The 25-year Design-Build-Operate-Maintain Harbor Bridge project in Corpus Christi, Texas demonstrates how enhanced collaboration between an Owner and their design-build team can lead to success during the procurement phase. With over 950 questions submitted, 70 one-on-one meetings, 268 evaluation clarification responses, and two full rounds of ATCs, TxDOT recognized the project's uniqueness and complexities, which resulted in mutually agreeable and appropriately assigned risk.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the requirements of the RFQ and RFP and communicate clearly to resolve questions
  • Provide every possible opportunity for face-to-face interaction when the Owner’s information is submitted or received
  • Don’t be afraid to make adjustments to the procurement documents
  • Make every effort to understand each other’s perspectives
