Description

Collaboration and communication are key in any design-build project, but are the crux of the coordination between parallel design-build and design-bid-build projects. From managing schedules to overcoming unforeseen hurdles, marrying the two delivery methods is essential to ensuring a client’s needs are met. Through the case study of a solar array installed to produce power for a building concurrently under full renovation, we highlight successes and lessons delivering a design-build project within a design-bid-build controlled site.

Learning Objectives:

  • Demonstrate the key benefits of design-build delivery when utilized in parallel with design-bid-build delivery of an integral project
  • Identify the value in consistent team and owner meetings and regular communication
  • Recognize limits and boundaries of the larger project team
  • Implement real-time project management collaboration tools

Speaker(s):

  • Michael Cromer, PG, DBIA, ENV SP, Director - Energy Division, Pennoni Associates, Inc.
  • Joe Marrone, Solar Director, Miller Bros.
  • Michelle Paul, Safety, Health, and Environment - Manager, AstraZeneca
  • Marika Selzler, EIT, Engineer, Energy Division, Pennoni Associates, Inc.
