Description

The Hampton Roads Sanitation District (HRSD) utilized the design-build approach to complete the Sustainable Water Initiative for Tomorrow (SWIFT) Research Center including a 1 million gallon per day (MGD) advanced treatment facility under shortened timelines to facilitate the collection of operational data in advance of full-scale implementations of the program. During design, the design-build team and owner collaborated to mitigate the impacts to basis of design criteria changes based on pilot plant data being collected simultaneously.
