Description

Design-build is increasingly used for complex, high profile projects in Washington State including academic facilities, schools and transportation facilities. The state’s Capital Project Advisory Review Board recently adopted best practices guidelines to help owners effectively utilize design-build. The session will focus on (1) how public owners, designers and builders collaborated to create the guidelines, (2) unique discoveries made during the process, and (3) how design-build in Washington State is evolving to foster integrated design.

  • Define progressive, traditional and bridging methods.
  • Identify methods to encourage competition.
  • Evaluate design-build's capacity for integrated design.
