Description
One application of design-build delivery is via a stepped, or progressive process (commonly referred to as Progressive Design-Build or PDB). PDB uses a qualifications-based or best value selection, followed by a process whereby the owner then “progresses” towards a design and contract price with the team (thus the term “Progressive”). This application of design-build has long been used in the private sector and is now gaining traction with public Owners, as well. This session will explore how DBIA’s existing Design-Build Done Right™ best practices apply to Progressive Design-Build (PDB) and explore additional best practices that can guide exceptional outcomes.

The three presenters helped to share the new progressive design-build delivery process and utilized each others expertise within DBIA knowledge based experiences to provide a valuable introduction of this new design-build delivery approach for both public and private owners. Due to the extensive use of excellent slides and the number to describe this overall educational process, more time should be allowed in future presentations to cover this subject matter and allow more time for attendees to ask more questions.
