Description
The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) recently awarded its fourth design-build project for the SR 520 corridor. WSDOT brings significant Design-Build (DB) experience to the project allowing it to execute the project effectively. WSDOT uses its design and construction oversight teams to engage the Design-Builder early and continuously. This ensures that WSDOT gets the project it expects and allows the Design-Builder the latitude to innovate and construct a quality project.
Learning Objectives:
- Provide Design-Build training to all Owner staff
- Learn how the Owner’s design oversight team interacts with the Design-Builder during the design phase
- Develop Quality Audit Plans with priority focusing on items with higher risk
- Identify key elements of collaboration between the Owner and Design-Builder that leads to effective project execution
